LAKE KARIBA

Lake Kariba, located in northeastern Zimbabwe, the world’s largest man-made lake by volume is the “hidden riviera” of Southern Africa. The majestic lake is a vast expanse of water as far as the eye can see with the Zambezi Escarpment in the backdrop. This picturesque destination offers a diverse array of experiences to enjoy the wildlife-rich shorelines of both Kariba and Matusadona National Park and is fast becoming a popular inclusion in safari itineraries to Zimbabwe. Kariba, an often overlooked destination, provides an uncrowded opportunity to explore the Lake Kariba & Matusadona National Park either by land or on water. Lake Kariba is a unique destination that has a diversity of activities to suit the interests of all travellers.

KARIBA SAFARI LODGE

Kariba Safari Lodge is a beautifully built property that won The ZTA Tourism Best New Product of Zimbabwe in 2019. The property sits on 40 acres of a forested hillside which slopes down towards the lake shore. Kariba Safari Lodge has a private sandy beach and a 15m swimming cage which allows visitors to swim directly in the lake without fear of crocodiles or hippos. Each of the nine lodges and eight suites has sweeping views of the lake below and is elegantly furnished to reflect the colours and scenery of the surrounding forest.

CROWNED EAGLE BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel is a charming colonial-style property with 13 deluxe rooms and magnificent views of the lake and the Matusadona Mountain range on the distant horizon.

THE TOWN OF KARIBA

Kariba town is steeped in history, visitors can choose from an array of activities which include game drives, visiting St Barbra’s Chapel & Kariba Heights viewpoint, walking on the spectacular Dam Wall 350 feet above the Zambezi and many more.

Sculpture of the Nyaminyami at the Kariba dam view point. The dam wall and the both sides of the Zambezi river across dam wall are visible

ZCS has a sailing fleet of five catamarans that can be hired as a flotilla; or individually for day trips and sunset cruising on private boats; or fishing tours with guides who can teach you how to catch the fighting Tiger fish or Niloticus Bream.

Lake Explorations on board The Zambezi Cruise Fleet: The ultimate relaxation!

A wildlife cruise on Kariba is about as good as it gets and offers real cruising distances daily of 4-6 hrs. This isn’t a floating lodge in a tourist-drenched destination as exists on the Chobe. Our fleet of 10 vessels varies in size from private charter boats of 2-4 cabins to the Zambezi Trader at 29 cabins over 4 decks.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

Katete Safari Lodge Bumi Hills
