Victoria Falls, Kariba Land and Cruise Tour Travel Itinerary: Day-by-Day Summary

Day 1: Arrival in Victoria Falls

Our local guide welcomes guests at the Vic Falls International Airport as they arrive for their Victoria Falls Kariba land and Cruise Tour. After the meet and greet we transfer to our accommodation to check in and unpack.

During the first afternoon of this tour, we are refreshed by the spray from the mighty Victoria Falls. The day ends with a Boma dinner and an evening drum show, a sure way to connect to the traditions and culture of Zimbabwe.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

Day 3: Victoria Falls – Kariba (Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel)

Day 3 starts with an early morning breakfast as guests prepare for their air transfer to Kariba. We notify guests of their charter plane departure times 24 hours before.

Upon arrival in Kariba, we transfer to the Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel. At the hotel, guests are welcomed with refreshing drinks as they check in.

After a bit of rest, we set off to explore the historically rich town of Kariba. First on the list of landmarks is the massive concrete dam wall that holds back the powerful Zambezi River forming the Kariba Dam. This is followed by a tour of the Church of  Santa Barbara. Next on the itinerary is a visit to the local marketplace and then finally sundowner drinks at the Kariba Heights viewpoint.

We end the day with a transfer back to the Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel where a delicious supper and awesome views of the lake await.

Day 4: Kariba – Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel

The tour of Kariba continues on Day 4. As usual, the day starts with breakfast during which our guide goes through the day’s itinerary.

We spend the second day in Kariba discovering the town’s hidden gems. This includes visiting the attractions that make Kariba one of the top destinations in Zimbabwe. Kariba has many exciting activities for travellers. On this day we experience some of that Kariba magic. 

We spend the last night at the beautiful boutique hotel at leisure. Dinner is served with refreshing drinks and stunning vistas of Lake Kariba.

Day 5: Kariba (Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel) -Lake Kariba Cruise boat

We say goodbye to the Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel after a delicious breakfast and head to the harbour for the next stage of our Victoria Falls Kariba land and Cruise Tour.

At the harbour, we board the houseboat and begin our Lake Kariba cruise. For the next 3 nights, we cruise on the largest inland water body. 

Lunch is served as the board cruises out of the harbour and is followed by afternoon Lake Kariba activities. Kariba activities on the first day usually include a sundowner cruise. We end the day with dinner on the cruise boat.

Day 6: Lake Kariba Cruise

Day 6 of our Vic Falls, Kariba land and lake cruise safari start with exploring our current water wonderland. Then, we continue our voyage to the next destination as we enjoy views of wild Kariba.

We moor again in the late afternoon and disembark for a game drive on shore. Lake Kariba cruise game drives are conducted in the Matusadonha National Park. The game drive is a perfect opportunity to spot some elephants and hippos.

Day 7: Lake Kariba Cruise

Day 7 starts with early morning water-based game viewing on the tender boats. We set sail after the excursion to our last night’s mooring on the lake.

We spend the day fishing, game viewing, birding and just relaxing on our luxurious houseboat as it sails on the idyllic Lake Kariba. In the evening, the chef treats us to a barbeque dinner either on the beach or on the boat. The location of this African tradition depends on how safe the beach is.

Day 8: Disembark, Lake Kariba Cruise

On day 8 we wake up on Lake Kariba for the last time during this tour. The friendly staff serve us a delicious breakfast as the boat cruises to the harbour and we get ready to say goodbye to the lake and move on to their next destination.
